My Galaxy tab is helping me make life and holiday shopping easier.  I have been using my tablet to research black friday ads and comparing pricing.  I am a fan of online shopping and so many places offer free shipping, a huge added plus.  I can shop anytime of day or night, so I am able to spend a lot more time and share better moments with family during the holiday season. No hassles of looking for parking spaces in the snow.  My friendly delivery drivers bring it right to my doorstep.  My only problem then is to hide it until I get around to wrapping it, usually at the last minute.

Green Giant Raise a Giant

At Green Giant, we know it takes a lot more to raise a healthy child then just getting them to eat their vegetables.  One of the hardest things kids have to deal with is bullying.

That's why Green Giant is partnering with PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center and We Day Minnesota to help parents RAISE A GIANT and put a stop to bullying in their community.

Being a giant means standing up for others.  Lend a hand to those in trouble and speak up for those who sometimes find it hard to speak up for themselves.  My own child and his friends have demonstrated this in school when a special needs child was being made fun of, they let the child's aide know.  They knew that wasn't okay to be happening and had the courage to stand up.

Our local school district has also taken a stand on bullying.

U.S. Cellular CAC Campaign

U.S. Cellular's Calling All Communities (CAC) Campaign will return for the fifth year November 4-25 and now is the time to prepare and rally your community to support a local school.

It challenges schools to rally community support to vote for their school for the chance to win a share of $500,000 to fund what their students need the most.

The top 20 schools that garner the most community votes will each win $25,000 to use as they wish to enhance their educational experience.

There is only one vote per person.

Here are some ways U.S. Cellular suggests to get involved:

When the campaign launches, there will be a printable flyer on the website to help spread the word.  Get sports teams, school board or student groups to hand out flyers, as well as asking local businesses to share flyers with their customers.

Post information on your school's website with a link to the U.S. Cellular website for updates.

Since the program began in 2008, U.S. Cellular has awarded $4 million to 56 Schools across the country. Past winners of CAC used their prize money in a variety of ways:  new computers, renovating gyms, kitchens and science labs.  Even some awarded scholarships or made donations.  What school couldn't use money to invest in advance technology in schools to enhance children's educational goals?

U.S. Cellular is an active member of their customers' communities and believes this campaign is a great way to engage all of their communities to work towards a common goal.

Find your perfect tablet at U.S. Cellular.  As part of the U.S. Cellular Blogger Brigade, I received a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1  I've had a little time to play with it this summer and here are some of my favorite things to do with it.

Samsung has some great apps.  They have a game to play and you can win a $5 gift card to use on more apps, and then easily set up an account. Cool, I just won it.  Now to look at the tons of apps to pick from.

I love the camera program.  We have been having fun using the cartoon mode.  Snap a picture and you have been made into a cartoon.  I actually did that and took a picture of myself for a twitter sweeps to win tickets to our Wisconsin State Fair and Brewer game, wearing state fair and brewers gear.  Yes, I won.  Yeah for me!  Photoshop Touch is preloaded on this as well.

The other program I have been using is Polaris Office.  I was having problems with my home computer and was frustrated by it and downloading documents attached in emails.  I logged into my email on my tablet and bingo, no problems downloading my documents with updates on my son's football games.  I can quickly refer to the schedule on the go.  They had changes in scrimmage dates and times, so it really helped me to have the tablet this summ

One of my print magazine subscriptions allows you to access it via tablet.  That's just one of the things I like about my tablet.

Another thing I like to do is check out savings be it deals or coupons.  There are so many coupon apps like ibotta.

As its back to school time, the S Planner has kept me on track of appointments and school registration days. It's easy to add a task and use the tool.

Where to find help deciding when a child should get their first cellphone and how to ensure the kids will use it responsibly, safely and courteously?  U.S. Cellular held a Better Moments online survey which showed 50% of U.S. Cellular customers' children have mobile phones. 91% of the parents polled set guidelines on phone usage for their child, while 63% indicated it would be helpful to have an agreement in place to manage the children's mobile device usage.

U.S. Cellular has developed a Parent/Child Agreement that can provide such a guideline for parents, and it is truly customizable for your specific needs.  The agreement contains suggestions on safety and phone etiquette, so the agreement can work for each individual family.  Some examples are watching videos together on YouTube or sending a message to each other if one is away from home.  This agreement can guide conversations you need to have with your child when they receive their first cellphone.  When my son received his first cellphone, we had a conversation on usage, stressing safety and responsibility.  Visit www.childphoneagreement.com to download a copy of your customizable Parent/Child Agreement.

I want to share what a quick and delicious summer salad I hope you enjoy this summer as much as I did. Have you ever tried Betty Crocker's Suddenly Salad? Well, it is officially summer and school is out. Peanut Butter Toast Crunch Cereal

I received a box of Peanut Butter Toast Crunch cereal for my family to try.  Both kids love peanut butter and love cereal.

My son tried it first.  Crunchy and not an overwhelming peanut butter taste, but just right.  My daughter also liked it and wanted more.  11 grams of whole grain per serving makes it nutritious to boot.  Check it out next time you are at the grocery store.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

Today was a snow day here.  So, how to keep my son away from his XBox 360 for a few minutes?  Food.  I saw a recipe in American Profile a week ago or so and cut it out.  Last week I bought a new bottle of vanilla extract and a graham cracker crust. For our own version of this pie, we used a regular graham cracker crust and whipped topping.   We had chocolate hazelnut and some regular peanut butter on hand.  I do not have a food processor and my electric hand mixer got all the peanut butter up the beaters, so I finished mixing with a spoon.   Now to do the dishes and wait 2 hours until we take it out of the freezer.
